On a small budget, Chuck E. Cheese’s $99.99 package or a self-serve area at Fairytale Town ($80 to $120 for the space, plus admission) cost least. Mad Science and TotArt come to you, which saves a venue fee if you have space at home or a park picnic area.

Choosing a party by your child’s age

  • First birthdays. Keep it short and let the grown-ups visit. Fairytale Town suggests its self-serve Sherwood Forest area for children 1 or younger, so you can go at your child’s pace. An indoor playground with a party room, like Enchanted or BusyKids, also works, and the babies can play.
  • Ages 2 to 5. Hosted parties with a short activity: Fairytale Town’s themed packages (it suggests them for kids turning 2 and up), a zoo party, Chuck E. Cheese’s toddler show for 2- to 4-year-olds, Hawkins’ ballet fairytale or a TotArt sensory party at home.
  • Preschool and early grade school. Coach-led gym parties at Technique, Byers or Flip 2 It, clay at ACAI (5 and up), a Mad Science show or a trampoline party at Rebounderz. SacTag’s Jungle packages mix a play structure with laser tag for ages 2 to 12.
  • Older kids and tweens. Laser tag at SacTag or The BLVD, bowling at Capitol Bowl or Lucky Strike, a ninja party at Flip 2 It, roller skating at Kings Skate Country, mini golf and go-karts at Golfland or a swim party in Roseville.

Not sure? Ask the venue what age most of its parties are for, and how it handles younger siblings. Byers, for example, lets parents on the floor only with children under 3.

Before you book: questions to ask

  • Who counts as a guest? At Fairytale Town and the Sacramento Zoo, adults count toward the total. At Rebounderz, SacTag and Capitol Bowl, the count is jumpers, players or bowlers.
  • What’s added on top? Rebounderz adds a 3% service fee and a 7% gratuity; Color Me Mine adds 15% for the host plus each piece; Mad Science adds travel and tip.
  • Is the deposit refundable? Most aren’t: $100 at Rebounderz, $80 at Fairytale Town, $50 at SacTag, $250 at Kings Skate Country.
  • Can you bring food and cake? The Sacramento Zoo allows only your cake; the Folsom zoo, Enchanted, Technique, Hawkins and The Play Atelier expect you to bring the food.
  • Are balloons allowed? Not at the Sacramento Zoo or the Folsom zoo.
  • Do guests need waivers or socks? Gyms and trampoline parks want a signed waiver for each child before the party starts, and the indoor play spaces are socks-only.
  • How far ahead? Fairytale Town needs two weeks and suggests four to eight for spring and summer weekends; Lucky Strike suggests two to four weeks; the Folsom zoo needs 14 days.
  • What if it rains? Fairytale Town’s castle party is rain or shine, but its other areas are weather permitting. The Folsom zoo moves parties to its Barnyard Experience.

How much does a kids’ birthday party cost in Sacramento?

As posted in October 2026, most hosted packages cost $300 to $600 for 10 to 20 kids: $355 to $375 for 10 players at SacTag, $360 for 12 bowlers at Capitol Bowl, $399 to $599 at Rebounderz plus fees, $425 to $525 at Technique Gymnastics. Can you have a birthday party at the Sacramento Zoo?

Yes. The zoo’s package gives you 90 minutes in the Redwood Grove next to the carousel, zoo admission and a carousel ticket for every guest, a pizza lunch, a stuffed animal for the birthday child and staff help, with a 20-guest minimum counting everyone over 2. The price sheet linked from its page is from 2024 ($60 a guest, $55 for members, $500 deposit), so ask the events coordinator for current prices. Balloons, glitter, confetti and candles aren’t allowed.

How do Fairytale Town birthday parties work?

Pick a hosted package or a self-serve area, then book at least two weeks ahead (four to eight is better for weekends). Hosted parties cover 20 guests, adults included, for 60 to 90 minutes with a host who leads one or two activities: $255 to $335, plus $11 per extra guest. Self-serve Sherwood Forest ($120) and Pooh Corner ($80 an hour) cost less, but guests pay admission. You may bring food, drinks and cake, but not alcohol or a barbecue.

What are good birthday party places in Roseville?

For active kids, Flip 2 It Sports Center has ninja and gymnastics parties for up to 15 or 20 kids, and Byers Gymnastics has packages from $350 ($300 for members). The city’s Mike Shellito Indoor Pool hosts swim parties for up to 40 guests for $400. Golfland SunSplash pairs mini golf with pizza, arcade cards and add-ons like go-karts and laser tag. Where can I have a kids’ birthday party in Elk Grove?

Chuck E. Cheese on East Stockton Boulevard has its $99.99 package for six kids, and Sky Zone Elk Grove books trampoline parties with a 10-jumper minimum. All four are indoors, which helps in the rainy months.

Where can I have a science birthday party in Sacramento?

Mad Science of Sacramento Valley comes to your home, a park or a restaurant with a 45-minute show and a make-and-take project, $350 for up to 20 kids. The SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity (MOSAC) lists birthday packages, but its page says parties are unavailable until further notice, and Explorit in Davis says it is pausing operations. Check both before you plan around them.

How we made this list

We searched the web (Exa) for kids’ birthday party places across the Sacramento area, then read each place’s own party pages in October 2026 for what’s included, prices and rules. We left out places whose parties are paused (MOSAC, Explorit), places that don’t say what a party includes, adult event halls, and results for Roseville, Minnesota. Package prices change, so confirm when you book.
