Waterworks Swim School

Adaptive swim lessons

Up to age 21

Adaptive swim lessons designed specifically for children with special needs, taught by instructors with experience teaching children with autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, sensory struggles and other physical challenges. Parents describe their child's characteristics and needs when registering, and the child is matched with an instructor suited to them. Lessons are one-on-one or two students to one teacher, using a muscle memory technique and rollover breathing, and private lessons run 20 minutes. There are no fixed sessions: families start and stop whenever they like and can change their schedule at any time. Teaching pools are heated year-round to about 92-93 degrees. Parents stay on deck and may watch. The school is vendored with Eastern Los Angeles Regional Center, and a scholarship page is listed for families seeking aid. No trial lessons are offered, but a refund is available on the first day of a first package.
