Child and adolescent therapy

Individual and family therapy for children and adolescents in Santa Monica. The practice's stated scope includes neurodiversity (ADHD, autism, learning disorders), intense anger, grief and anxiety. The approach is family-centered and flexible, summed up as "whatever works"; the clinicians are trained in CBT, humanistic, psychodynamic, Adlerian and systems-oriented approaches. Some sessions are with the child, and for kids who are not ready to come in, parents can have sessions on their own for child-development guidance. Rachel McCarron, LCSW, a former school counselor, is trained in EMDR and CBT and works with neurodivergent, bright clients on emotional and social goals as well as organization and time management. The process starts with a phone consultation and a full intake covering medical, risk-factor, mental health and family history. If there is a waitlist, it is raised during the consultation. Testing is also named in the practice's title.
