Psychoeducational Assessment
A comprehensive psychoeducational assessment looks at cognition, attention, learning, processing and social-emotional functioning together, rather than testing for ADHD or dyslexia alone. It combines interviews with the student, parents and teachers, standardized rating scales and performance-based measures. It usually takes three to four testing sessions of two to three hours each, and the whole process runs about 4 to 6 weeks, ending with a written report and a one-hour review meeting. The report can include a DSM-5 diagnosis and school eligibility findings, and can document needs for 504 plans, IEPs and college accommodations. Sessions are in the Pasadena office, in homes in the Los Angeles area for an extra fee, or by telehealth anywhere in California. It is private pay, with a free 20-minute consultation first and six months of interest-free financing available.
