About Institute for the Redesign of Learning - Westmoreland Academy
Westmoreland Academy is one of the programs of the Institute for the Redesign of Learning (IRL), which Nancy J. Lavelle, Ph.D., founded in 1974 as the Almansor Education Center with four students in a church classroom in Alhambra. IRL now runs six programs for people from infancy through adulthood, many of them with special needs: Almansor Academy, Westmoreland Academy, Clinical Services, Community Outreach, Early Childhood Education, and Transition & Adult Services. Its administrative offices are at 99 Pasadena Ave., Suite 10C, South Pasadena. IRL's stated belief is that every individual is a learner, whole, able and complete.
