Parent education and training for families of children with disabilities
Parent education and advocacy training for families of children, youth and adults with disabilities, with a focus on Latino and Chinese families. The Autism Parent Education Program (APEP) is a 16-hour training, four sessions of four hours each, for parents of individuals with autism. Fiestas Familiares are free workshops, held in Spanish in families' homes and community settings, on special education eligibility, Regional Center services and other resources. The Community Parent Resource Center, run with the Chinese Parent Association for the Disabled, helps Latino and Chinese parents navigate the special education system. Fiesta also hosts an autism conference with the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles and a statewide annual conference. It is a Harbor Regional Center vendor for individual and family training. The office is at 2215 N. Broadway, Unit B, Los Angeles.

About Fiesta Educativa, Inc.
Fiesta Educativa is a nonprofit founded in 1978 by the Eastern Los Angeles Regional Center, and one of the first organizations in the country to serve Latino families of children with developmental disabilities. Irene Martinez has led it as executive director since 1998. It works with parents so they know their children's rights and can advocate for them. Its headquarters is in Lincoln Heights, with offices in Los Angeles, Orange County, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Jose. Signs in the office are in English, Spanish, Chinese and Vietnamese.
