Behavior intervention and autism services
Behavior intervention and family services for children and teens with autism from a state-certified nonpublic agency. For school districts, VHAP provides services only under a student's IEP: a functional behavioral assessment guides a positive behavior support plan that reduces challenging behaviors and teaches replacement behaviors, with skills such as adaptive skills, attention to task, communication, compliance, coping and self-regulation, and play skills. Staff are certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention de-escalation. Regional center families request an assessment for an adaptive skills program through their service coordinator; VHAP is a vendor of Eastern LA and Lanterman regional centers. Parent training is offered. Verdugo Counseling Center provides outpatient counseling for parenting a child with ADHD or ASD, anxiety, depression and behavior or social issues. Private pay is $235 per session with a Ph.D.-level clinician and $185 with an MFT or LCSW. Interns and associates charge $150 down to $35 on a sliding scale based on income.
