Dyslexia and psychoeducational testing
Testing looks at reading, writing and language processing: phonological awareness, decoding and fluency, spelling and writing, working memory, processing speed and executive functioning. It is usually done as part of a broader psychoeducational assessment, and neuropsychological testing is also offered to separate dyslexia from other cognitive factors. Results give a diagnosis or rule dyslexia out, and recommendations for school accommodations such as IEPs and 504 Plans, structured reading supports and learning strategies. Sessions are in person at the Beverly Hills or downtown Los Angeles office. The practice says insurance often declines testing, so families should expect to pay out of pocket; the fee depends on the questions being addressed and the extent of testing.
