Youth Dance Classes
Youth classes at the Village Homes studio in Davis run by session. The fall 2026 lineup starts with Creative Movement for 3 and 4 year olds on Friday mornings, then Pre-Ballet for age 5 and Youth Ballet 1 (ages 6-10) on Friday afternoons. Youth Ballet 2 (ages 8-10) and Ballet 3 (ages 9-11) meet Mondays and Fridays after school, and Youth Ballet 4 (ages 10-14) meets Tuesdays and Thursdays. Hip hop is also listed for kids. Teaching is built on classical ballet technique drawn from the Vaganova, Cecchetti and Royal Academy schools, adjusted to each student. Most youth courses require enrollment for the full session. Older kids new to ballet are steered to teen and adult classes, with optional private lessons, until they can join a youth class. Audition-based Applegate Dance Company is available for dancers who want to perform.

About Applegate Dance Studio
Applegate Dance Studio was founded in Davis in 1992 by Lisa Applegate-Zimanyi. It teaches ballet, creative movement, hip hop, pointe, contemporary dance and fitness classes to kids, teens and adults at its studio in the Village Homes neighborhood, and runs limited classes at a Winters studio. The ballet program is the core of the studio and is based on a mix of the Vaganova, Cecchetti and Royal Academy schools. Applegate Dance Company, an audition ballet troupe, is for dancers who want to perform. It also offers private lessons, summer mini dance camps and adult drop-in classes, and draws students from Davis, Dixon, Winters, Woodland and West Sacramento.
