Acton Academy Venice Beach
Acton Academy Venice Beach is a private, nonsectarian, learner-driven school at 2210 Lincoln Boulevard, Suite 13, in Venice, serving kindergarten through 12th grade. Its site describes guides rather than teachers and studios rather than classrooms, with learning built around each child's Hero's Journey and Socratic discussion. Students are assessed through portfolios and exhibitions rather than grades, and they do apprenticeships for real-world learning. The school is open 8:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. from September through July. Enrollment is open year-round: families apply through the Apply Now page, then attend a phone information session or an in-person open house. The federal private school survey for 2023–24 counts 10 students and 3 teachers, so classes are very small. It suits a family looking for a small, self-directed K–12 school in Venice.
