Valley Charter Middle (6-8)
A tuition-free public charter middle school in Van Nuys, serving grades 6 through 8, roughly ages 11 to 14. It is one of two small schools in Valley Charter Schools, a public independent charter founded in 2010, and each school enrolls under 300 students. The school says students learn best through meaningful and rigorous project-based learning, and it aims to build academic and social-emotional skills alongside communication, collaboration and self-advocacy. Admission is by application and lottery, and current families with an incoming sibling get sibling priority if they apply by the February deadline. The site lists 6th grade at 14646 Sherman Way and 7th and 8th grade at 6952 Van Nuys Boulevard, and it has pages on special education, neurodiversity resources and family engagement.
