Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Harbor-UCLA's psychiatry department includes an on-site child and adolescent clinic and an adolescent psychiatric emergency room, which is described as one of very few in the country. The department's dedicated psychiatric emergency rooms see over 6,000 people a year for emergency assessment, diagnostic evaluation, stabilization and referral to the next level of care. Clinics use several therapeutic approaches, including psychopharmacology, cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and trauma therapies. Care is offered regardless of ability to pay. The program is based at the hospital campus at 1000 W. Carson Street in Torrance, and program information is available by phone.

About Harbor-UCLA Medical Center Psychiatry
Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is a public teaching hospital run jointly by LA County Health Agency and the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Its psychiatry department has two inpatient units with 38 beds, adult and adolescent psychiatric emergency rooms, and a consultation/liaison service. Outpatient clinics on site include an adult clinic, a child and adolescent clinic, a dual diagnosis program, and a behavioral medicine clinic. The department also runs a psychiatry residency and a child and adolescent fellowship. It serves a lower-income, diverse population and provides service regardless of ability to pay.
