Gan Israel Preschool (Pre-K–K)
Gan Israel Preschool is the early childhood program of Chabad of the Valley, on the ground floor of the Rabbi Moshe and Ruty Weiss Early Childhood Center beside the Blauner Youth Center on Burbank Boulevard in Tarzana. It serves pre-school and kindergarten children, roughly ages four to six. The school describes its approach as a warm Jewish atmosphere combined with academic instruction, with subjects taught through music, dance and stories and an emphasis on the positive and the experiential. Families across the range of observance are welcome, the school says. Renee Hutchings has directed the school since it opened in 1978, and Rabbi Mayer Greene is Rabbi and Judaic Director. The 2023–24 federal private school survey counted about 20 students and roughly 3.8 full-time-equivalent teachers. It suits a family who wants a Jewish early education in the San Fernando Valley.
