In-home ABA (IBI and Behavior Management)
Applied behavior analysis for children and young people with autism and related developmental disabilities, starting with an assessment of friendly conversations, questionnaires and observation that leads to an individualized treatment plan. The Intensive Behavioral Intervention (IBI) program uses discrete trial training, functional communication training, incidental teaching and the picture exchange communication system to build expressive, receptive, social, daily living and motor skills. Sessions run about 3 to 3.5 hours, in the home and, when applicable, in the community, with caregivers taking part in every session. The Behavior Management program, about 2 to 3 hours, coaches caregivers in ABA techniques and can run with or without the child present. Total hours depend on needs, diagnosis and insurance authorization. Paid through health insurance or through a regional center; Eastern Los Angeles Regional Center is the one most commonly used.
