Sibshops for siblings of children with disabilities

Ages 6–15 · Free

Sibshops are fun, in-person morning groups just for the brothers and sisters of children with any special need, giving siblings their own space for peer support and recreation. Open to kids ages 6-15, they are offered about quarterly by Our Village's five certified Sibshop providers; the next in-person group is planned for November 2026. Families apply by emailing Our Village or signing up online. Thanks to a grant from Special Children's League, South Bay, children can attend this year for free. Groups meet in the South Bay, with the main site at 3848 W Carson Street in Torrance, and the group location can vary.

PEERS social skills group for teens

Ages 12–17

PEERS is a 14-week evidence-based social skills group for motivated teens who want to learn to make and keep friends. It is used with autism and also with ADHD, anxiety, depression and other social challenges. Teens practice conversations, electronic communication, humor, choosing friends, hosting get-togethers, entering and exiting conversations, and handling teasing, bullying, rumors and gossip. A parent or other social coach attends a concurrent group each week to coach through role-plays and homework. Led by UCLA-certified providers including Monica Fyfe, MFT, BCBA. Offered through Harbor Regional Center and Westside Regional Center (ask your service coordinator for a referral), by private pay, or with self-determination program funds. Free screening first; in-person in Torrance and virtual groups for California residents.

Kid 2 Kid play and social groups and PEERS for Preschoolers

Ages 4–12

Kid 2 Kid Play & Social Skills Groups are peer-mediated groups that use components of Integrated Play Groups and Teaching Interactions to build play and friendship skills in children. Fall groups begin in early October 2026 in Torrance after a free screening. PEERS for Preschoolers is a parent program for children ages 4-6 and their parents, in person or by telehealth for California residents, led by providers certified through UCLA. Scholarships for 2026-2027 are available for the preschool program thanks to grants from PV Junior's Women's Club and Vistas for Children. Families email Our Village for a screening or a preschool application.
