Saturday Japanese School
The school year has 35 Saturdays. Nyumon students must be at least 4 at the start of the year and potty-trained; teen classes are for ages 12-18. Registration closes at the second Saturday; after that students are admitted case by case. Parents take part in two fundraisers a year (or pay $100 for each one missed).

- 10 monthly payments, August to May; $190 a month for two students. Plus $100 materials fee per student, $100 family membership in the community center, and a $30 registration fee.

A Saturday Japanese school started in 1924 and run by its PTA at the San Fernando Valley Japanese American Community Center in Pacoima. Classes are grouped by age and level, from kindergarten to teens.
