Speech-language pathologists begin with a thorough assessment of expressive and receptive language, pragmatic (social) language, articulation and oral-motor skills, then build a customized plan with the family and reassess it as the child's needs change. Therapy addresses expressive and receptive language delay, social language delay, stuttering and fluency, and speech-sound disorders, and parents are encouraged to take part in sessions. An early intervention Mommy/Daddy and Me group called Chatterbugs, led by a licensed SLP, teaches parents to build language at home. The East Long Beach clinic is open Mon-Fri 9 AM-6 PM; teletherapy is also offered. Accepted payment includes Kaiser, Blue Shield of California, Anthem Blue Cross, Aetna, Cigna, Health Net, UnitedHealthcare, Tricare, Harbor Regional Center, Regional Center of Orange County and private pay. Some staff speak Spanish and Korean.
