Special education assessment
Free assessment and educational planning for students enrolled in special education whose needs are complex and hard to serve. Transdisciplinary teams may include educational specialists, speech-language specialists, school psychologists, a clinical psychologist and a developmental and behavioral pediatrician. Assessments are done at the Center or in the field, and follow-up services are available to school staff after an assessment, when a parent has signed consent, typically one specialist visiting the school to help the team interpret and carry out the recommendations. There is no cost, but the request must come from the local school district, not the family. The Center also offers family education, consultation, referral and resource information, plus training for educators on topics such as autism.
