Clinic-based ABA therapy
Clinic-based applied behavior analysis for children with autism spectrum disorders and related developmental disabilities. Every child starts with a Functional Behavior Assessment (interview, file review, direct observation, data collection and a skills assessment) that sets the treatment and the hours per week. Individualized programs target communication, social and play skills, adaptive and self-help skills, toilet training, community integration and classroom readiness, and the center-based program focuses on preparing children for kindergarten or preschool group settings. Parent training is built in. Care is overseen by BCBA clinical supervisors, and the clinic has a sensory gym. Also offered: parent consultation, sleep training, 2-3 day intensive toilet training, school-based ABA, and PEERS-certified social skills groups. Open Monday to Friday 8 AM to 6 PM and Saturday 8 AM to 12 PM. Contracted with major health insurers except Kaiser; also accepts regional center funding and private pay.

PEERS social skills groups
Social skills groups run several times a year as weekly in-person meetings, which may be held alongside parent meetings. The practice is a UCLA PEERS certified provider. The preschool group works on greetings, sharing, taking turns, joining games, asking for and giving help, body boundaries and voice volume. The adolescent group covers making and keeping friends, starting and ending conversations, electronic communication, humor, organizing get-togethers, handling disagreements, changing a bad reputation, and handling teasing or bullying. Young adult and adult groups are also offered. Groups are held at the La Crescenta clinic.
