A Journey to Brazil Summer Camp

Art camp · Ages 5–12 · $250–$500/week · Full day · 9am–3pm

In its 11th year in 2026, the camp invites kids to explore Brazilian culture indoors and out: making art and masks, playing Brazilian percussion instruments, reading and writing stories, playing interactive Portuguese language games, and moving with soccer, maculelê and capoeira. Kids learn about the people, history, geography and environment of Brazil and create art works and performances inspired by the culture. Full-day and half-day options; before and after care is available. Space is limited, and there are no refunds for cancellations within two weeks of the start.

Kids, Tweens and Teens Capoeira Classes

Martial arts class · Ages 4–17 · $100–$150/month

Students learn the game of capoeira, with its attacks, defenses and counter attacks, plus its history, philosophy, rhythms and music, including playing instruments and singing in Portuguese. The kids class (ages 4 to 9) is taught by Professora Harmonia, who has trained for over 20 years. Wear something comfortable and bring a refillable water bottle. Homeschool families with Blue Ridge Academy can use instructional funds. A single drop-in class is $25.

• Tuesdays & Thursdays, 5:15–6pm
• Mondays & Wednesdays, 5–6pm
• Saturdays, 11am–12pm

• Unlimited classes by membership: kids and tweens $130 a month (down to $100 on a 24-month plan), teens $150 (down to $110). Duo and multi-member discounts available.
