Nava College Preparatory Academy

Nava College Preparatory Academy (9-12)

Ages 14+ · Free

Nava College Preparatory Academy is a tuition-free public high school for grades 9 through 12, run by the Los Angeles Unified School District. The state directory lists it as a traditional school, not a magnet, charter or alternative school. It is at 1319 East 41st Street in the 90011 zip code, in the Exposition Park area of South Los Angeles, at the same street address as Thomas Jefferson Senior High. The name points to a college-preparatory focus, but the directory gives no details of its courses or Advanced Placement offerings. Students usually enter at ninth grade, around age 14, and leave after twelfth grade, around age 18. Enrollment follows the district's address-based assignment, and the school charges no tuition. Families can call (323) 235-6800. It suits a South Los Angeles teenager who wants a free public high school with a college-prep name.
