Curtis Care Infant Development Program

An Early Start program for infants and toddlers from birth to 36 months with diagnosed developmental delays or disabilities, run by CurtisCARE from its Downey office at 12114 Paramount Boulevard. Services are delivered in the center or in the child's home under an Individualized Family Service Plan. Staff include infant development specialists, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, bilingual family support specialists and behavior interventionists. Leadership is under Lucina Mena, senior program director, whom the site describes as having more than 35 years of experience. The Downey office lists weekday hours of 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The center is licensed for up to 25 children. CurtisCARE was established in 2006, is licensed by the state and is vendored through South Central Los Angeles Regional Center.

Early Start infant and toddler program

Early Start services for infants and toddlers from birth to 36 months with diagnosed developmental delays and disabilities, delivered in the home or at the center-based program in Downey. Services follow each child's Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) and support physical, cognitive, communication, social-emotional and adaptive self-help development. Speech and language therapy is offered individually and in groups with licensed speech-language pathologists, including AAC support for non-verbal children. Occupational therapy covers sensory integration, fine and gross motor development and daily living skills. Staff include infant development specialists, bilingual family support specialists and behavior interventionists. Services are in English and Spanish. The program is funded through regional centers (South Central LA Regional Center vendor; in-home speech and OT also through Westside Regional Center). Parents are welcome during program hours, and visits are by appointment. Program hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.
