Infant development and early intervention therapy

Up to age 3

Infant Development Program and therapy services for infants and toddlers in the Early Start population, delivered mostly in the home or in other settings natural and comfortable for the child. Infant teachers work alongside occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists. Occupational therapy covers overall development, gross and fine motor skills, oral motor and feeding skills, sensory processing, and splint or orthotic needs. Speech therapy covers pre-language skills, language comprehension and expression, feeding and swallowing difficulties, and augmentative communication such as picture exchange and voice output devices, with parent education and caregiver coaching. Staff are bilingual, with a specialty in speech and language development. In-home visits are available after hours and weekends. Parent participation is emphasized. Services are funded through Eastern Los Angeles and Lanterman regional centers, which also request developmental assessments.
