BUILA (grades 9–12)
The Burbank Unified Independent Learning Academy, or BUILA, is an alternative school of choice in the Burbank Unified School District for high school students in grades 9 through 12. The state directory classifies it as an alternative school of choice, and the name points to an independent-learning model, so students who want a different setting from a traditional comprehensive high school can consider it. Enrollment is by choice within the district rather than by neighborhood address. As a public school, it is tuition-free. The school is coeducational and secular, and it shares the 1915 Monterey Avenue campus with the district's Magnolia Park special education school. Families can call (818) 729-5900 or check the Burbank Unified website for schedules and how to apply.
