Pediatric hearing loss care and audiology

Up to age 21

Care for children with hearing loss, starting with assessments that determine the type and degree of loss. Otolaryngologists and pediatric audiologists use specialized testing for diagnosis, then recommend treatment, including fittings for hearing aids and cochlear implants, with rehabilitation and follow-up care. The center offers auditory-verbal therapy, educational counseling, pediatric audiology and speech-language pathology, and its licensed speech-language pathologists provide speech, language and literacy evaluations. A full-time educational specialist supports children with hearing loss at school, which few programs in the country offer. Appointments are at the Beverly Hills office, with audiology also in Glendale and La Cañada Flintridge; telehealth appointments are available. Keck Medicine of USC accepts Medicare assignment and private insurance, and offers financial assistance to eligible patients. Interpreter services are available by phone at (800) 872-2273.
