Arcadia Montessori School
Arcadia Montessori School is a private Montessori school at 1406 S. Santa Anita Avenue in Arcadia, founded in 1963 and run by owner-director Cheryl Roberts. It takes children from age two through kindergarten, offering preschool, transitional kindergarten and kindergarten in mixed-age classrooms. Children choose work from hands-on materials in practical life, sensorial, language, math and cultural studies and move through it at their own pace. The teachers are Montessori-trained and CPR-certified, and the school says many stay for years. Optional classes include dance, gymnastics and Chinese language immersion. After-school care runs until 6:00 PM, and OPTIONS subsidies are accepted. The school admits children regardless of race, sex, religion or income, can help with toilet training, and takes applications for the current year as well as summer and fall.
