## Early intervention (ages 0-3)

Up to age 3

Early intervention for children from birth to age 3, built around play, therapy and parent support. Early intervention specialists and specialized therapists provide evidence-based supports in natural learning environments, and give families tools and guidance to help their child. Services include child development services, pediatric speech therapy, physical therapy and occupational therapy, aimed at milestones across all areas of development. Services take place where the child lives, learns and plays. It is paid for through the regional center: the family asks their regional center to refer the child, then the team works with the family and the Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) team to design a plan focused on meaningful progress and everyday skills. Vendored with Eastern LA, Lanterman, North LA County and South Central LA regional centers.

## Adaptive skills training (ages 3-18)

Ages 3+

Adaptive skills training for children and teens ages 3 to 18, focused on the skills needed for everyday independence: functional communication, self-help routines, safety awareness and community participation. Instructors use evidence-based practices adapted to each client's abilities and goals, and Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support (PBIS) to prevent challenging behaviors by teaching skills early. Parent and caregiver education offers family-centered coaching so skills carry over at home. Services take place where the child lives, learns and plays. Families begin with a referral from their regional center service coordinator, and the team then designs a plan with the family and the IPP team. Maxima is vendored with Eastern LA, Lanterman, North LA County and South Central LA regional centers.
