## Drop-off day camp for people with developmental disabilities

Up to age 21

Drop-off day camp at the Twisted Roots Studio in San Pedro for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including those with varied disabilities and multiple diagnoses. The camp is art-based, exploring watercolors, clay, mosaics, collage and mixed media with an emphasis on self-expression. It also focuses on emotional regulation and builds attention and task completion through sensory-rich materials, movement and music. Days also include gardening, cooking and baking, social skills, health and wellness, and educational nature walks. Day trips to local stores, parks and nature preserves build socialization and community engagement. The studio has a dedicated art studio, a fully equipped kitchen, restrooms, a garden and a large outdoor patio where students eat lunch. Camp meets on set weekdays (the calendar shows Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 am to about 3 pm). Families pack a lunch; snacks and filtered water are provided. Payment is through the self-determination program or self-pay, and tours are available by email.

## About Twisted Roots Studio

Twisted Roots Studio is a private, all-inclusive art and enrichment studio at 1264 W 15th St in San Pedro. Its mission is to make art and enrichment programs accessible to students of any age and to people with disabilities. Besides the drop-off day camp it offers art, cooking, music and gardening classes, 1:1 lessons, public craft classes, private craft events and to-go craft kits. It serves children, teens and adults, with classes designed specifically for people with disabilities. Christina Coulson is the founder and director. A cooking class also meets in Palos Verdes.
