## ABA therapy for children with autism

Up to age 18

Applied behavior analysis for children with autism, tailored to each child after an assessment by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst that includes caregiver interviews and direct observation. Treatment may be focused, targeting one or two priority areas, or comprehensive, ranging from 10 to 40 hours a week. Families usually begin in Sprouts (ages 0–4) or Sprigs (ages 4–6), which use play-based, one-on-one therapy and everyday routines to build communication, play, safety, social and school-readiness skills. Parents are trained to use the techniques at home. Explorers (7–12) and Trailblazers (13–18) continue for current clients when clinically appropriate. Therapy can happen in a center, at home, in the community, at school or virtually, depending on the assessment. BCBAs and Registered Behavior Technicians deliver care.
