## ABA therapy

Up to age 21

One-on-one Applied Behavior Analysis delivered by a Behavior Interventionist under a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, in the child's home, at school (with permission) or in community settings such as parks, grocery stores and playgrounds. Sessions teach communication, social, self-help and daily living skills, and reduce challenging behaviors through positive reinforcement. Care starts with a functional behavior assessment, typically 3–4 weeks, and a behavior intervention plan that also addresses aggression, elopement and self-injury. A tailored instructional program, social and play skills development and caregiver training and coaching are offered, and caregivers may observe or take part. Plans are shaped around the family's culture, preferred language and routines. Session frequency depends on the child's needs and insurance coverage, typically 10 to 40 hours per week. The team coordinates with schools and other providers with parent permission.
