## ABA therapy

Up to age 18

ABA therapy for children with autism, delivered at three Sacramento-area centers in Folsom, Elk Grove and Granite Bay, and in some cases at home, at the child's school or in the community, depending on insurance coverage and staffing. A Board-Certified Behavior Analyst starts with an assessment of caregiver interviews and direct observation, then writes a plan for communication, social, learning and daily living skills. Plans are either focused, targeting one or two priority areas, or comprehensive, from 10 to 40 hours a week. Early intervention programs are Sprouts (ages 0-4) and Sprigs (ages 4-6); older programs are for current clients. Families can choose a comprehensive program, typically 8-3pm Monday to Friday, or a focused program, typically 3-6pm. The team helps with insurance verification and intake, and works with many commercial plans, Medicaid, TRICARE and school districts.
