## Intake, eligibility and Early Start

Up to age 21 · Free

Families start by submitting an online intake referral, with records such as an IEP or medical documents if they have them. For children from birth to three, the Early Start program uses a series of contacts and assessments by several professionals. For people over three, intake means an interview and a psychological assessment. An eligibility team then reviews the information, and an intake counselor shares the decision. Regional centers must finish intake within 45 days for children under three and within 120 days for those over three. The developmental issue must have started before age 18. Intake is free to everyone regardless of citizenship status. Eligible clients receive a service coordinator and can request services through their IPP or IFSP.

- Intake is free; services are requested through the IPP or IFSP process.

## About Westside Regional Center

Westside Regional Center is a California regional center that supports people with developmental disabilities and their families. It handles intake and eligibility, assigns service coordinators, and arranges services through each person's Individual Program Plan or, for children under three, an Individual Family Service Plan. It also runs the Early Start program for infants and toddlers, a Self-Determination Program and the Westside Family Resource and Empowerment Center, which gives information and support to families and professionals. Services are described for ages birth to 3, 3 to 10, 11 to 17, 18 to 22 and 23 and older.
