## Youth wheelchair basketball

Up to age 21

Wheelchair basketball and sports program for physically disabled children, with a pediatric team alongside adult teams, run by the recreation therapy staff of Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in Downey. Established in 1987, it offers success-oriented, competitive wheelchair sports and aims to build lifetime physical fitness and skill development, with a high standard of academic achievement woven into every practice and competition. The pediatric program is sponsored by Las Floristas. The pediatric team competes at the National Wheelchair Basketball Tournament and placed 16th in 2023, out of 52 teams nationally. The program is coordinated by Tiffany Yonemoto, Recreation Therapist, at (562) 385-6322. Adults are served by separate teams.
