It serves pre-school and kindergarten children, roughly ages four to six. The school describes its approach as a warm Jewish atmosphere combined with academic instruction, with subjects taught through music, dance and stories and an emphasis on the positive and the experiential. Families across the range of observance are welcome, the school says. Renee Hutchings has directed the school since it opened in 1978, and Rabbi Mayer Greene is Rabbi and Judaic Director. The 2023–24 federal private school survey counted about 20 students and roughly 3.8 full-time-equivalent teachers. It suits a family who wants a Jewish early education in the San Fernando Valley.","categories":["private-school"],"ages":{"min":4,"max":6},"grades":{"min":-1,"max":0},"school":{"sector":"private","enrollment":20},"traits":{"faith":"faith-based","ratio":5,"feel":"A small Jewish preschool and kindergarten in Tarzana, run by Chabad of the Valley, with subjects taught through music, dance and stories.","topics":["jewish","chabad","music-and-dance"],"methods":["hands-on"]}}],"source":{"url":"https://www.chabadofthevalley.com/templates/articlecco_cdo/aid/541231/jewish/About-Us.htm","fetched":"2026-10-09"},"updated":"2026-10-09","checked":null,"closed":null,"sample":false}
