Activities are tailored to participants' needs and built around group engagement, with outings such as movie nights, dinner with friends and community explorations. Club Afternoons build life and social skills, positive peer interaction, manners and independence at a staff-to-participant ratio of 1:5. Club Evenings meet Thursdays 5–7 p.m. with a different activity each week, such as vision boards, holiday cookies, DIY pizza nights, puzzle challenges and sports matches. It suits participants who need little to minimal staff assistance; staff do not provide 1:1 support or 1:1 ABA, and parents do not take part unless stated. New participants first speak with a Program Supervisor, then register monthly (registration is mandatory) and need a current medical/emergency form on file.","categories":["special-needs"],"ages":{"min":13,"max":21},"format":"in-person","afterschool":{"meetings":[{"location":"main","days":["thu"],"start":"17:00","end":"19:00"}]},"traits":{"specialNeeds":"focused","conditions":["learning-disabilities","cerebral-palsy","developmental-delay"],"ratio":5,"goals":["social","life-skills","independence","confidence","fun"],"parents":"drop-off","setting":"both","structure":"mixed","assessment":true,"feel":"Group-based recreation for teens and adults with disabilities, mixing weekly activities, outdoor play and community outings.","topics":["adaptive-recreation","city-program","community-outings","life-skills","teens","adults-also-seen"]}}],"source":{"url":"https://norwalk.org/departments_services/recreation_and_park_services/adaptive_recreation/index.php","fetched":"2026-10-12"},"updated":"2026-10-12","checked":null,"closed":null,"sample":false}
