The first visit is an evaluation: a conversation with caregivers about history and goals, observation of age-appropriate movement, and a plan with ideas to practice at home. Younger children are assessed through play and functional activities. Care is individualized and one-on-one, and caregivers usually stay during visits. Plans may include exercises, balance training, motor-skill activities and help with adaptive equipment. Families may come for cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, spina bifida or autism, or for recovery from trauma, sports injury or surgery. The Montebello clinic is open Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 7:30 PM. Insurance plans include Medicare, Aetna, Health Net, Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California, Cigna and TRICARE, plus cash-pay options.","categories":["physical-therapy"],"ages":{"min":0,"max":17},"health":{"specialties":["Pediatric physical therapy","Pelvic health","Balance rehabilitation","Aquatic therapy"],"practitioners":["Ardavan Makaremi, PT, DPT"],"hours":[{"days":["mon","tue","wed","thu","fri"],"start":"08:00","end":"19:30"}]},"traits":{"specialNeeds":"focused","conditions":["cerebral-palsy","down-syndrome","autism"],"groupSize":["one-on-one"],"parents":"watch","insurance":["ppo","hmo","self-pay"],"assessment":true,"feel":"Individualized one-on-one sessions in which caregivers stay and learn exercises to practice at home.","topics":["pediatric-physical-therapy","spina-bifida"]}}],"source":{"url":"https://www.startpt1st.com/resources/what-to-expect-pediatric-pt-visit","fetched":"2026-10-13"},"updated":"2026-10-13","checked":"2026-10-13","closed":null,"sample":false}
