After a referral through the IEP, a case manager or clinical supervisor designs the plan (Behavior Intervention Development). It starts with a functional assessment that includes record review, interviews, behavior rating scales and observation with ABC forms and scatterplots. The plan then draws on evidence-based practices such as task analysis, PECS, antecedent-based interventions, modeling, scripting, social skills training, prompting and reinforcement. A classroom-based Behavior Intervention Implementation (BII) provider carries out the plan, helps the student access the curriculum and collects behavior data. Supervisors review the data regularly with the school team and the family. Services take place at school and at home. IBIC also trains school staff and teams in applied behavior analysis.
