Families apply for Early Start (birth to 3 years) or for Lanterman Act services (age 3 and up) to begin intake. For Early Start, a child may qualify with a 25% delay in one or more areas of development, a combination of two or more risk factors, or a diagnosed condition with a high chance of causing delay. NLACRC completes an evaluation of the child's developmental level and reviews medical records; determination may take up to 45 days. Children from birth to five may also qualify provisionally under the Lanterman Act.
