## ABA therapy and autism evaluation

Contemporary ABA therapy for children with autism, described as playful, naturalistic and age-appropriate, guided by data, and built around the child's interests and the family's culture and values, with caregivers as core partners. Treatment starts with an assessment and can happen in the home, in the community, at an AST Learning Center, through telehealth, or in partnership with a school. Learning Centers offer one-on-one support in individual and group settings, and social skills programs run in small groups. Goals include language and communication, social and play skills, daily living skills, reducing behaviors that interfere with learning, and school readiness. AST also does autism diagnostic evaluations for children 18 months to 5 years 11 months, and offers occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and counseling at some locations. Funded through regional centers (Eastern Los Angeles, Harbor, Lanterman) and insurance.
